While I have not heard enough to know why it is so funny, certain people in the house where I live find the name "Gary" to be hilarious. Those same people also think the word "nougat" is funny, and think "nugget" is funny, too, because it sort of sounds like "nougat."
The Gary thing was explained to me; somewhere in a sub-basement of the game Fallout 3 there is a cloning machine making clones of someone named Gary. I have two things to say about that: "whatever," and "nougat."
